Uncle Waffles Eyeing Grammy Awards
Uncle Waffles has been on a hot streak as of late, and she’s hoping to cap it off with a Grammy award or two!
From performing at Coachella and the Met Gala earlier this year, to selling out venues on her recent US/European tour, Uncle Waffles – real name Lungelihle Zwane – is clearly Africa’s hottest DJ right now.
Per an Instagram post she shared on Wednesday, 18 October, the 23-year-old amapiano princess is now looking to win a couple of Grammys next year.
“It’s been an amazing year, I’ve played 100+ international shows this year alone and I’m soo greatful for everything that continues to happen in my life [sic],” she wrote in the caption. “I’m proud to Announce that I’m in the running for two Grammys nominations, I need my babysss to share this post for me!! [sic]”
Her new album, “Asylum”, is in the running for Best Global Music Album, while her 2023 single, “Yahyuppiyah”, is in consideration for African Music Performance.
“If you’re a member of the @recordingacademy, I’d appreciate your support [sic].”
The next Grammy Awards take place on 4 February 2024. Here’s hoping she’ll win!
